Literature Text

My alarm clock was not to scream for another twenty minutes
The serene world beyond my windowsill brought me to life
The lonely trees tormented by night embrace the gentle zephyr
And the sun is already setting on this too-old morning of new

There has been too much thinking and worrying to be done
She is leaving, she does not care, and she is moving on
Life passes me by faster than hourglass sand
Eroding stone in an eternal stream

After escaping and fleeing for miles
I breakdown and the tears fall again
Weakness in my knees is forever present
She can still pin me down, render me useless

She wields the power to destroy my world
She can tear my heart out with a simple exhale
Every spoken word I cherish forever
Every branded memory I keep in a little box

Holding on and holding back
Tell me why I am still breathing
Show me who I am at last
And who I have become

I have no home to return to
The only comfort I know is her
And forever could never be enough
So tell me, tell me

Everything I could ever want to know
The only thing that matters to me
But do not run away this time
Could you love me back?
I have no written in AGES. So bear with me if this is a little plain and dull. I seem to have a lot more free time on my hands, but that doesn't necessarily mean I've gotten homework finished earlier or have gotten more sleep. Nonetheless, do enjoy this poem! I sort of threw it together after a bit of inspiration from waking up yesterday morning. Do notice the gradual transition from explicit descriptions to more subtle and implicit descriptions. Let me know what you think! Thank you!
